We’re pleased as punch to have Phantogram kick off our eighth season of A.V. Undercover, which has a moody new vibe, with a stellar take on Hole’s “Violet.” The cover finds frontwoman Sarah Barthel doing her best dark Courtney Love, all while the churning band takes full advantage of the new, well-lit Undercover set. It’s a great indication of where we’re going with this new season, which will feature all your favorite or soon-to-be-favorite bands doing covers of all your favorite songs. We’re talking groups like Minus The Bear, Lee Fields, Old 97’s, Passenger, Austra, and Fastball covering cuts by T. Rex, Dolly Parton, Fugazi, and Blink-182, though not necessarily in that order. We can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on for the past few months, so make sure to check back here every Tuesday for the latest look at A.V. Undercover season eight.

One note: Make sure to watch the accompanying interview video for a cute guest appearance from Barthel’s touring dog pal, Leroy. He bopped around the office while the band was recording, and was just as cute as could be.
