A DJ mix full of woodsy drums and incandescent moods that evoke New Age woodwinds gone cosmic and cool, Sunkissed surveys a current Norwegian disco scene that couldn't be more fertile. Timely producers like Lindstrom and Prins Thomas make good on a sound that straddles old Italo-disco and contemporary moves by the likes of LCD Soundsystem, with a sense of space and an ear for organic timbres geared toward those still hesitant to call turntables and sequencers "instruments." Connotations shouldn't matter, though, when a drum sound like the one in Todd Terje's remix of "Whistling In Tongues" meets a bassline too funky and free to wave away under any circumstance.
